The program will be centered in the self-contained apartment building, which will house the participants in four apartments, each person having a private bedroom. The building is beautifully renovated and is adjacent to Chapel Haven's main campus. Much of the teaching will be done in appropraite settings in the community, but for those hours when the participants are in group or individual sessions, individual apartments will be used. Weekly house meetings for the entire group will address domestic responsibilities, meal preparation, social engagements, shopping for food, community involvement (including what the group can do for its community), personal appointments, work and school schedules and planned time alone.
As much of the program is individualized, a majority of the participant's time will be spent one to one with a staff member working on those individualized skills determined at the beginning of the program. Meetings with the participant's support team will be held at a minimum at the 45-day mark, 6 months, one year, 18 month and two year milestones. Progress will be measured against our benchmarks for transition. Some participants may complete the benchmarks in one year or less, others may take two or three years.
