Chapel Haven is an award-winning, nationally accredited school and transition program serving 250-plus adults with a variety of abilities and needs.
Chapel Haven occupies a flourishing campus at 1040 Whalley Avenue in New Haven, CT, and a satellite campus in Tucson, AZ called Chapel Haven West. We are underway with a multi-year, multi-million-dollar campus expansion that will result in a new REACH residential building (online by July 2018), a new Welcome Center, creation of a new “outdoor living room” courtyard, an aging services facility that will allow our adults to “age in place” in a community they call home and a new home for the ASAT program.

Chapel Haven has three core residential/day programs for families to consider. We also are the program of choice for older adults who require a wide range of services to maintain a happy and independent adult life.
Our Three Core Programs
The REACH program (Residential Education at Chapel Haven), based in New Haven, Conn., serves adults 18+ with mild developmental disabilities and autism. Our adults learn to live apartment-style in an intensive 24-month Residential Life Skills program on the Chapel Haven campus. They learn to negotiate all aspects of independent living while enjoying a state approved education program and a nationally accredited transitional living program. Upon graduation, they may choose to continue living in the area and receive continued supports from Chapel Haven. Chapel Haven also offers classes, social communication therapy and supported living services for families living within the New Haven area. Chapel Haven Asperger Syndrome Adult Transition Program (ASAT)
The Asperger Syndrome Adult Transition Program (ASAT), based in New Haven, Conn., serves adults 18 years of age and older with autism spectrum disorders and related social disabilities who are motivated to gain independence.
Chapel Haven’s ASAT program is highly individualized and can be tailored to each individual’s needs.
The ASAT Program offers a wide range of services to adults. They include:
- Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy
- Social Recreation
- Social Communication Therapy
- Independent Living
- Employment Services
- College Supports
Our curriculum is divided into four major domains:
- Social communicative competency –learning to maintain relationships, problem-solve social communication breakdowns and consider the perspective of others.
- Self-determination – learning to set goals, regulate emotions, self-advocate
- Independent living – life skills, apartment living, managing a budget, mobility
- Career and college supports
Chapel Haven West
Chapel Haven West opened in 2008 in Tucson, AZ and provides residential transition and lifelong supports for adults 18+ with autism spectrum disorders and related social disabilities. The program is a satellite of Chapel Haven, Inc., in New Haven, Conn.
Chapel Haven West focuses in four key areas: independent living, self-determination, college/vocation and social communication skills. Students live in an apartment complex within walking distance a few blocks from the University of Arizona. They learn apartment management skills along with cooking, budgeting, grocery shopping and doing laundry. The program’s close proximity to the University of Arizona provides a rich array of benefits for Chapel Haven West students, including classes, involvement in the university’s state-of-the-art SALT Center and job shadowing opportunities.
Chapel Haven West also offers classes, social communication therapy and supported living services for families living within the Tucson area.
How to Apply
Applying is easy using our Online Application. We encourage families to apply online as it simplifies submission and provides parents with a tool for tracking online the status of their admission after their application has been submitted. A non-refundable fee of $50 must be submitted with each application.
Create an Online Application
To begin the Online Application process, Create an Account. Then log in to your account and Create A New Student Application for your child. You will then have the flexibility to log in and out of your account and access your open application.
After submitting the application, you will be able to track online your admissions status at the school by logging in to your account. There you will be able to monitor when the school receives supplemental application forms and, if necessary, reprint the supplemental forms.
