The Chapel Haven Family Association presents “Government Benefits and How They Can Help Special Needs Families” with noted presenter Michael Beloff Saturday, Feb. 23, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Following the workshop and time for Q&A, join us for a tour of Chapel Haven’s newly constructed REACH residential and classroom campus.
This event takes place at Chapel Haven Schleifer Center, 1040 Whalley Avenue, New Haven, CT and is free but reservations are required.
The workshop will be led by Michael Beloff, CFP®, a Chartered Special Needs Consultant (ChSNC®) and the parent of a son with autism. Michael is a noted speaker on the topic of special needs planning at both national and local venues including the National Autism Association, the Connecticut Down Syndrome Congress, the Autism Society of America, the US Autism and Asperger Association and COPAA. He will discuss in clear, concise language how to qualify for, and the differences between, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Medicaid, Social Security Disability Income (SSDI) and Medicare. He also will discuss how the ABLE legislation is being made accessible to families, including in CT.

Michael Beloff, CFP® is a Wealth Advisor at Stratos Wealth Management. Inspired by his son with Autism, Michael has become a Chartered Special Needs Consultant (ChSNC®) with extensive training and continuing education on the complex topics and particular challenges of caring for a dependent with special needs, including the constant changes in federal and state laws. Michael is a board member and Treasurer of Abilis, a non-profit organization serving intellectually and developmentally disabled individuals in lower Fairfield county and is a member of the First Selectman’s Advisory Committee for People with Disabilities in Greenwich. He lives in Greenwich with his wife Deborah and son Ben.
