Jamie R. loves his job at Outback!

Jamie R. has achieved a lot since enrolling at Chapel Haven West in 2010.

Along with completing the Chapel Haven West two-year residential program, Jamie R. has since earned an associate’s degree in general studies at Pima Community College, established his own apartment in the Tucson community and snagged two great jobs – at Outback Steakhouse and at Olive Garden.

Work Place Wednesday congratulates Jamie on so many amazing accomplishments!

Originally from Larchmont, NY, Jamie has found true adult independence as a member of the Chapel Haven West graduate community. And he aspires to a future career.

“My long term dream would be to work in the film industry, but I enjoy what I’m doing now,” he said.

Jamie has now worked at Outback Steakhouse for seven years! He started out as a maintenance worker participating in mostly cleaning duties, but then added food prep as well. His continued growth and experience over the years of working at Outback Steakhouse led him to independently achieve a second job as a host at Olive Garden.

“The best part about working at Outback Steakhouse is they allow me to go at my own pace” stated Jamie. “I am still learning the job at Olive Garden, but I do the best I can.”

At Olive Garden, Jamie is  a host, welcoming and directing customers to their tables.

“There is stress that comes with this job” Jamie stated, “but my coworkers appreciate my work.

When he’s not working, Jamie enjoys going to the movies, exploring new restaurants, and going to the gym.

Jamie has won praise from supervisors for his punctuality, and his ability to listen and follow instructions. He has shown a desire to continuously improve that makes him well appreciated in the work place.

His current Outback supervisor, Michael, stated, “I have not worked with Jamie very long, but he is always on time, always willing to work extra when we need him, and has a positive attitude.”

Vocational Coordinator Amy Tellez said, “Jamie is an ambitious young man with great knowledge on how to be a valued employee. He has been a model student and community member at CHW, and we are proud of Jamie’s continued vocational success.”

Congrats, Jamie, you rock!
