Alicia Prigodich

Chapel Haven Schleifer Center is delighted to announce that Alicia Prigodich has been named our new Wellness Coordinator, and she could not be more excited!

Alicia is known to many and has worked at Chapel Haven since 2013. She is extremely passionate about advocacy for special needs populations, fitness, nutrition science and all things pertaining to helping individuals improve their overall health and wellness.

A graduate of Southern CT State University with a Liberal Arts degree, she focused on psychology and nutrition in college while discovering her passion for Chapel Haven Schleifer Center originally through Best Buddies CT. Alicia has been a certified personal trainer and Zumba certified instructor since 2015 and continues to pursue education related to nutrition sciences.

Alicia has worked in several key positions at Chapel Haven, for the Asperger Syndrome Adult Transition (ASAT) Program and the SAIL and Supported Living programs.

Alicia has lots of great activities coming up, including an upcoming 5K, healthy prepared meals for students and even a staff tranquility space.

Healthy initiatives coming up:

Hartford 5K: Team of staff, students, graduates and families participation in the Hartford 5k, half marathon, and marathon relay on October 12, 2019. Leading up to the 5K will be organized training walks, runs, group exercise classes in conjunction with the Recreation Department, suggested nutrition and training plan as well as t-shirt making and team building activities. CHSCMeals – Healthy, tasty, fresh, convenient prepared meal service that can be customized to suit any dietary preferences or medical needs!

Working with UCONN dietetic interns to break down the menus of surrounding community restaurants and frequent food stops so students/graduates can easily know the worst – better – best choices (red light, yellow light, green light format) to make.

Staff focused wellness initiative including creating a staff tranquility space.

Working with the café to improve offerings to healthiest possible options that are enjoyable! (Switching from sugar filled juices to naturally flavored fruit waters and seltzers.
