Chapel Haven Schleifer Center had an amazing time as the official corporate sponsor of the Channel 8 Great Holiday Give Toy Drive, benefiting children in need through the U.S. Marine Corps.
Our sponsorship included an appearance on WTNH’s CT Styles show on WTNH CT Styles. We are so proud of our two CHSC adults – Gilliam Jasper of the REACH program and Cheney Ravitz of the ASAT program – for talking about all they have learned at CHSC. In addition, Special Education Teacher Erik Rambush of the REACH program also talked about CHSC and our 50th anniversary.
We were excited to be on the show and to talk about all we are achieving at CHSC!
CHSC students and staff collected lots of toys to benefit the Channel 8 Great Holiday Give Toy Drive. PAVE students under the guidance of Career Ability’s Brionnie Caban posted Toys for Tots collection boxes around campus. Thanks to all who donated!
And Saturday, December 10, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at North Haven High School, CHSC adults and staff joined WTNH to participate in the drive-by toy donations. WTNH partners with the U.S. Marines and Toys for Tots to collect thousands of new unwrapped toys and monetary donations.
The drive was a big success, collecting 2,342 toys, 16 bikes, $142 in cash and $1000 in gift cards. Many thanks to all who donated, especially our own staff and adults!
On hand to assist at the drive was CHSC President Michael Storz, VP of Admissions and Marketing Catherine Sullivan-DeCarlo, Board chair and CHSC Parent Peggy Baker and CHSC community member Justin M., Sam P., Alex H. and Barbara D., along with Connie Brand, now retired and formerly part of the CHSC admissions team. Everyone had a great time! Check out our photo gallery below!
