Chapel Haven Schleifer Center is thrilled to share that this fall, we will be hosting Melton, a renowned leader in adult Jewish education, at our campus.
CHSC adults can learn more at a cookout in the courtyard set for Tuesday, Aug. 27 at 5:30 p.m., with catering by Lea’s Falafel House. Sign up for the cookout on CHSC Rec Desk Both Rachel McEachern of CHSC and Rachel Scolnic Dobin of the JCC Greater New Haven will be on hand to explain the program.

Details for the fall session
Melton School offers a world-class curriculum that was recently modified to serve adults with differing intellectual disabilities. Over a six-week session beginning September 23, CHSC adults will learn some of the values of Judaism within a fun group setting. Each class will offer a mix of interesting discussions and fun activities (such as challah baking).
The Melton class will address some of the following topics:
• What does it mean to be Jewish?
• What are ways we practice being Jewish?
• What are Jewish values we hold?
• What are some choices we make everyday to help us?
• What are some choices we make that could hurt us?
• What does it mean to be part of a community?
Application Process:
Residents must apply through Rachel McEachern (there will be a simple application form). The class is limited to 20 individuals who do NOT have to be Jewish.
