Catchin Up with Chapel Haven, Episode 5

Episode 4 focuses on the holidays.

Contributors are Zach, Andrew, Laurel, Lizzy and Ally. In this episode, Tina Menchetti interviews Andrew and finds out about his family nickname; Ally talks about the traditions of Hanukkah and her New Year’s resolutions; Zach shares his New Year’s resolutions and interviews CHSC VP Christy Chandler; Laurel explores female empowerment.

Art Director Tina Menchetti interviews Andrew B. and finds out that Andrew during the holidays has a special nickname, “Mr. Christmas.” Tina also has dubbed him Mr. Music Man because he is knowledgeable about music. For Podcast 4, Andrew shares his song of the month, “Sleigh Ride,” performed by Ella Fitzgerald and talks about his work at CT Public. Also check out interviews made by students in the CHSC Voiceover Class.

Andrew says he can’t get enough of holiday tunes but what matters more to him is spending time with family. “If you spend time with your family, try to turn off your tablet or PC and just converse.”

Episode 2 includes an interview with Alyssa Parete, Liam channels Skylar Skaterhead and students discuss upcoming events

In Episode 2, Alyssa Parete is interviewed about her career and her job as Recreation Supervisor by Rudy. Liam, whose new persona on Episode 2 is Skylar Skaterhead (relative of Stacy SpiceRod) also surfaces. We talk about an upcoming soccer fundraiser undertaken by a student at Choate and the popular bagel run slated at the JCC of Greater New Haven.   Dylan reviews the Movie of the Month, Snow White! Josh gets a shout-out as our sound engineer and IT guy. And Marc features the song of the month, the hottest song in CHSC’s courtyard. Take a listen to Episode 2 here 

About the Podcasting and Voice Over Classes with Ashley and Tina

CHSC teamed up with Ashley, who is known to us as a Best Buddy during her years at Southern CT State University from 2006-2010 and a volunteer for Tina’s ceramics class earlier this year. Professionally, she is the National female voice and a National Imaging Producer for iHeartRadio. She isa  voiceover professional whose voice can be heard on radio stations around the world, including many here in CT, like KC101, Country 925 and more!

“The benefits of this project are many-fold – building confidence in the adults we serve, providing a storytelling platform representing their viewpoints and educating the public about the vibrant adult lives that are possible for individuals with disabilities,” said CHSC President Michael Storz. “We are so excited to have her professional help.”

The two new classes, introduced this summer, give CHSC adults the chance to cover news and events around campus for the new podcast, while also polishing their media skills at the same time. The classes will continue in the fall. Read more below about the classes.

This class meets on Tuesdays, from 2-3:30 p.m.

VOICE OVER with Ashley Cavaliere & Tina Menchetti

Do you love to talk? Ever wondered what it’s like to be a voice on the radio? Join Ashley for a fun and engaging voice-over class! With over 18 years of experience in radio, she’s excited to share what she has learned with you. In this class, we’ll focus on getting your message across clearly, improving annunciation and delivery, and recording fun voice-overs that you’ll get to keep.

This class also meets on Tuesdays from 1-2 p.m.
