We are proud to offer many partnerships throughout Tucson that enhance our teaching and learning, and that make our Tucson community a virtual classroom.
University of Arizona partnership
A key partnership is Chapel Haven West’s Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Arizona. We are proud that on June 27, 2012, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by then-President Dr. Eugene Sander, on behalf of the Arizona Board of Regents, and Michael Storz, President of Chapel Haven, Inc.
This collaboration, the first of its kind, allows Chapel Haven West students to take any class in the University system (complying with prerequisites, as required). Chapel Haven West students are an integral part of campus life, enjoying the benefits that all UA students enjoy.
Among those benefits:
Our students are enrolled for two years in a college-level, credit-earning Social Communicative Competency class created by Chapel Haven, offered by the University of Arizona, and taught by clinicians in the University’s Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences Department, under the direction of Chapel Haven West speech-language pathologists.
Our students have access to all university facilities, including the Student Union, libraries, the Campus Recreation Center, the state-of-the-art Disability Resource Center (DRC), and the newly renovated and nationally renowned SALT Center.
Chapel Haven West students are an integral part of everyday campus life, attending athletic events, enjoying a rich connection with sororities, fraternities, and the University’s Best Buddies program, exploring theater productions and art and music shows, and celebrating the University’s rich history of excellence with “Bear Down Fridays” at the Main Gate Square.
Our students also enjoy a robust array of classes, life skills training, and social recreation opportunities at Chapel Haven West’s campus in the heart of Tucson.
Chapel Haven West has a wide variety of vocational and educational partnerships within the Tucson community. Here is just a sampling:
