Karin Frodel, Director of Vocational Services
Karin Frodel is the Director of Vocational Services within CareerAbility beginning her Chapel Haven career in 2005. Karin brings over 25 years of experience working with children and adults with autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disabilities and Asperger’s Syndrome. Karin graduated with a BS Degree in Therapeutic Recreation with a Psychology minor and completed coursework towards an MBA, both from Southern Connecticut State University. She has excelled in the nonprofit sector holding positions managing residential, educational, day, therapeutic and vocational programming. Within her time at the Chapel Haven Schleifer Center, Karin has created strategies and overseen growth and development of new programs, including the Asperger’s Syndrome Adult Transition (ASAT) Program, Chapel Haven West, and now CareerAbility. Karin strives to stay current and develop new offerings; she participated in the annual Social Venture Research Institute’s Fellowship Program sponsored by GCSEN (Global Center for Social Entrepreneurship Network) working to collaborate and bring social entrepreneurship learning opportunities to Chapel Haven. Karin is a Certified CPR/First Aid instructor as well as a trained investigator with the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) Abuse Investigation Division (AID). She sits on the Commission on Disability Rights and Opportunities in her home town and is a determined advocate for all individuals with exceptional needs. Outside of work, Karin enjoys spending time with her husband, twin girls and dog, Roxy, exploring nature, watching movies, competing in trivia contests and trying new recipes.
