A bequest is a gift to charity at death. A bequest is the simplest type of planned gift to make and one of the easiest to implement. It can include cash, securities, real estate or property.
CHARITABLE GIFT ANNUITY
A Charitable Gift Annuity is a simple contract providing for Chapel Haven making fixed payments to the donor for life in return for their contribution. The gift annuity offers a donor the assurance of payments that will not fluctuate, and that are secured by all the assets of Chapel Haven.
CHARITABLE REMAINDER UNITRUST
Gifts made as a bequest, Charitable Remainder UniTrust (CRUT), are created as a separate legal entity and funded by the donor with cash, securities or other assets. The donor receives an income stream from the CRUT (for life or for a term of years) and Chapel Haven receives the remainder of the trust at death of the donor or end of term.
CHARITABLE REMAINDER ANNUITY TRUST
For example, a donor may wish to designate their gift to a scholarship fund, or further restrict the scholarship to students in a specific program.
I ALREADY SUPPORT THE CHAPEL HAVEN ANNUAL FUND. WHY SHOULD I MAKE A CAPITAL CAMPAIGN GIFT?
Thank you for your generosity to the Chapel Haven Annual Fund. Gifts to the Annual Fund help meet current operating budget needs. Your Annual Fund support goes directly into the current year’s operating funds. Capital funds for Continuing the Commitment: The Campaign for Chapel Haven do not go toward the operating budget, but provide the necessary support to fund projects and improvements driven by the objectives of Chapel Haven’s strategic plan.
WHEN WILL I BE ASKED TO PARTICIPATE?
The campaign is being conducted in a phased approach. We are now in the silent phase, soliciting gifts from those closest to the Chapel Haven.
WHO WILL BE ASKED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CAMPAIGN?
All parents, siblings, Board members, Campaign Cabinet members, Executive Campaign Cabinet members, local businesses, select corporate and foundation partners will be asked to invest in this important endeavor for Chapel Haven.
HOW CAN I MAKE A GIFT?
Gifts and pledges may be made in the form of cash, securities or property in the form of an outright or planned gift. Chapel Haven is an IRS 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization. All gifts to the campaign are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law.
HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO MAKE PLEDGE PAYMENTS?
The pledge period is up to 5 years. Chapel Haven will remain flexible to help donors make the best gift possible, such as a delayed payment start or end date. Unrestricted pledges made earlier in the campaign will help the school cover a greater share of the upfront capital costs.
