On June 18, 2020 the eighth class of PAVE (Partnership for Achievement through Vocational Experience) participants  will celebrate completion of their program at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Congrats to Emma, Meghan, William, Alex and Seth!

Through this partnership between YNHH and Chapel Haven Schleifer Center, PAVE participants have worked in fifteen different areas within the main hospital and auxiliary departments. PAVE participants are led to success by the guidance and mentorship they receive from YNHH department staff and other natural supports in the workplace, PAVE Work-Based Learning Specialists, and Chapel Haven certified teaching staff.

CareerAbility at Chapel Haven Schleifer Center’s unique work-based learning program, PAVE, provides adults with disabilities, who wish to prepare for competitive employment, with authentic work experiences and a robust vocational curriculum. Through volunteer placements at Yale New Haven Hospital participants are fully immersed in the workplace, acquiring marketable job-specific and transferrable skills. In addition to all that is learned on the job, participants receive daily instruction on employment and related skills, taught by a highly qualified team of instructors, including topics such as professional appearance and behavior, workplace social communication, coping skills and stress management, interview skills, and professional portfolio development.

Please help us in congratulating our 2019-2020 PAVE at YNHH graduates and wishing them all the best as they venture into the world of competitive employment!
