Community Life Program

The Community Life Program (CLP) is designed to offer a structured, community-focused day for individuals who are either not working or working a limited number of hours.

Chapel Haven’s CLP provides participants with opportunities to explore, interact and volunteer in the Greater New Haven community.

The cornerstones of the program are developing healthy lifestyles by increasing interpersonal skills and socialization, constructively managing free time, participating in regular exercise and healthy eating habits and enjoying the numerous offerings in the Greater New Haven community.

developing healthy lifestyle

The program helps participants develop productive daily routines, through the group preparation of a healthy lunch and daily exercise. The CLP program designs activities that allow individuals to explore what a healthy lifestyle might mean for them, they have the opportunity to try various types of exercise as well as meals that they might not have tried otherwise.

Individuals learn to strengthen their interpersonal skills through daily group discussions, assertiveness education, and incidental teaching opportunities when in the community. Group participants also work on their socialization skills through volunteering, lunch outings, and other community activities when exploring New Haven and the surrounding areas.

Working Together to give back

The Community Life Program allows for various volunteer opportunities throughout each week. CLP is able to give individuals the ability to work on workplace skills in a fun group setting, below are some of the program we partner with to give our members different opportunities.

Socialization

The program offers a great opportunity to develop and practicing social skills. Small groups allow for the development of trust, friendships and interpersonal skills, and the opportunity for equal participation. Each day members encounter various different situations that build social skills, from learning to work together in group volunteers to conversational skills while at lunch or out in the community with peers.
