James Kline, Board Member

With over 26 years of law enforcement experience, I have built a career grounded in investigative excellence, ethical leadership, and advocacy for vulnerable populations. I served with both the Connecticut State Police and the Orange Police Department, spending most of my tenure with the State Police Major Crime Unit as a Detective and Sergeant. Across my 26-year career, I developed deep expertise in complex investigations, specialized interrogation techniques, legal and procedural practices, and advanced analytical skills. Working with diverse teams, agencies, and organizations further strengthened my emotional resilience, communication abilities, interpersonal effectiveness, and commitment to mentorship, advocacy, and community sensitivity.

Building on the expertise I gained throughout my law enforcement career, I became a licensed private detective and now own and operate Linguistic Interrogation Expert Services (L.I.E.S, LLC). I also serve as a certified investigator for the Department of Developmental Services (DDS). Through this work, I lead investigations into abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation within group homes serving adults with intellectual disabilities—continuing my unwavering commitment to justice, protection, and human dignity.

Staying true to myself and ensuring I continue to love what I do, I founded Simply You Consulting, LLC – an organization dedicated to helping adults with intellectual disabilities live safe, fulfilling, and self-determined lives. The company was named with the desire for the individuals we care for to be viewed simply as themselves, and not through the lenses of their disabilities. Simply You Consulting’s mission embodies values of empowerment, inclusion, and independence through lifelong individualized support and community connection – all based off the values of Chapel Haven in New Haven, CT: empowering adults with disabilities since 1972.
