James M. Musser, M.D., Ph.D.
James M. Musser, M.D., Ph.D. is the Fondren Distinguished Presidential Endowed Chair and is Chair of the Department of Pathology and Genomic Medicine for the Houston Methodist Hospital System. He is also Director, Center for Infectious Diseases at the Houston Methodist Research Institute and Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. He has had a long-standing interest in discovering the molecular events contributing to emerging human infectious diseases and pandemics. He is an elected member of many professional societies and has received many honors and awards for his research efforts, including the Warner-Lambert/Parke-Davis Award and Rous-Whipple Award sponsored by the American Society for Investigative Pathology. He is past president of the American Society for Investigative Pathology and the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB). Jim and his wife, Camille Leugers, MD, a family medicine physician, are the proud parents of Grace, a graduate of Chapel Haven’s Asperger Syndrome Adult Transition (ASAT) program. Grace lives in the community and works in Chapel Haven’s café. She is a graduate of Gateway Community College.
