Sallie Carter

, MA, CCC-SLP Director of Change Management and Transition

Sallie began her career at Chapel Haven with CareerAbility in August 2021, eventually serving as Director of CareerAbility, where she guided students and community members through career development planning, facilitated discovery, and job placement. She is a licensed and ASHA-certified Speech-Language Pathologist, holding a Master of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders from The University of Memphis and a Bachelor of Arts in Classical Languages from Sewanee: The University of the South.

Her background spans work with children and adults across school, clinic, and private practice settings, giving her a broad, person-centered view of how individuals move through transitions in their lives. In her new role, Sallie serves as CHSC’s Change Champion, building staff buy-in for new initiatives and developing training and communication materials that help changes take hold across the organization. She partners with the VP of Compliance to maintain a recurring compliance monitoring schedule across residential, day, and administrative programs, and oversees the Continuing Adult Education/Graduate Program, from class offerings and instructor recruitment to long-term certificate-level programming. She also coordinates agency-wide Aging in Place efforts, supporting programs as they plan for individuals’ changing needs over time. Outside of work, Sallie enjoys riding horses, crafting, and baking.
