Wellness Meal Plan
Did You Know?
Did you know the average life expectancy for someone with developmental and intellectual disabilities is about 1/2 that of the neuro-typical population?
One study, from the American Journal of Public Health in 2017, found the life expectancy in the US of those with Autisum Spectrum Disorder ius half that of the general population.
(36 compared to 72 years)
This is because these individuals experience greater challenges with maintaining optimal health conditions and experience premature aging such as:
– complex medical conditions and mental health issues
– lack of access to health promoting programs
– an increased risk of engaging in poor diet habits & physical inactivity
– and a lack of skills necessary to cook safely
