Wellness Meal Plan

Did You Know?

Did you know the average life expectancy for someone with developmental and intellectual disabilities is about 1/2 that of the neuro-typical population?

One study, from the American Journal of Public Health in 2017, found the life expectancy in the US of those with Autisum Spectrum Disorder ius half that of the general population.
(36 compared to 72 years)

This is because these individuals experience greater challenges with maintaining optimal health conditions and experience premature aging such as:

– complex medical conditions and mental health issues
– lack of access to health promoting programs
– an increased risk of engaging in poor diet habits & physical inactivity
– and a lack of skills necessary to cook safely

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can the meals be modified or customized for food allergies or preferences?

Unfortunately we cannot customize the meals to the individual at this time. This is something we are looking into. We do include a list of the ingredients in the menu and if you let us know of any food allergies or restrictions we can make note of this and keep an eye on the order choices.

2. How does the billing work?

Billing is processed once a month (roughly around the 15th per the billing department) alongside Chapel Haven’s other services. The subscriber can be billed or it can be directed to another party. You will be able to choose during the signup process.

3. When does the menu go out?

New menus go out on Tuesday or Wednesday of each week so community members have time to make their choices on their own or with support staff if necessary.

4. When are orders required to be submitted by?

Orders must be placed by 3pm on Thursday and will be delivered the following Monday by 3pm

5. When does the food get delivered?

Students can pick them up Monday or Tuesday from the Wellness Café. CH Community Members will need to schedule a pick up time where we will meet them at the edge of campus outside of SAIL on Emerson St.

6. How should the food be stored?

The food will hold the entire 7 days. For the best freshness, we recommend putting the meals for later in the week in the freezer until ready to eat.

7. Can we cancel or change the subscription?

You can cancel or change your subscription at any point in time between deliveries. Just email Wellness@ChapelHaven.org and let them know what you would like to do.
