We have some very exciting news!
Chapel Haven Schleifer Center has been named a Top Workplace in Fairfield, New Haven, and Litchfield! The list will be announced on September 27th, in a special section of the Hearst Connecticut Media Group’s publications.
The award is based solely on the feedback of our employees, who took a survey administered through the Top Work Place program this month.
Being named a Top Workplace is a big deal — only 49 companies made this year’s list. This is especially significant during this challenging time of pandemic and stressful work conditions. And it’s significant that the “judges” were our own staff, who had the chance to provide unbiased and meaningful feedback on what it’s like to work at CHSC.

The best example is the way that the staff have pulled together during the pandemic to continue serving our adults. Staff have worked daily with masks and protective gear to keep our services going and to insure that our adults can remain in the community and be as independent as possible. It has been amazing and is a credit to a staff that is not motivated by pay or benefits but by our life-changing mission.
I have grown at CHSC, personally and professionally, and have been encouraged to work to my full potential and given opportunities to do so.
I love working every day to fulfill our mission. I love our individuals and I love watching them achieve all of their dreams and goals. I love our staff, always putting in the time and going the extra mile because they too love to be here.
The survey results also highlighted areas where we need to improve, including interdepartmental cooperation, better internal communications so everyone feels informed and competitive wages and salaries.
Please stay tuned for Sunday, September 27, when all 8 of the daily Hearst newspapers in Connecticut will publish a section featuring all the winners, including CHSC. Those newspapers are: Connecticut Post, Stamford Advocate, Danbury News-Times, Norwalk Hour, Torrington Register Citizen, Middletown Press, New Haven Register, and Greenwich Time. We also will be featured with a digital ad on the website of the New Haven Register and on the Facebook page of the CT Post. And you’ll be seeing the Top Workplace logo in lots of places – our website, social media, etc.
